MARSANNAY LA COTE – GOLDEN GATE OF COTE DE NUITS
Marsannay-la-Côte is the very first town of the area called Côte de Nuits located at the South of Dijon (around 10 km).
The appellation is from May 19th, 1987 and is classified as a “village”.
No “premier cru” is to be found in Marsannay but it is the only “village” appellation to produce the three colors in Burgundy (white, red and rosé). The producing towns of this wine are Chenôve, Marsannay and Couchey divided into 192 ha for the reds and rosés and 35 ha for the whites, representing for an average year about 1,400,000 bottles.
The reds are known for their delicate bouquet (fresh red fruits). The rosés are fruity with a pleasant acidy. The whites are supple and full-bodied with an attractive note of pineapple or banana.
